Does BBC Sherlock follow the books?
Sherlock is based on the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in borrowing from it the plethora of characters that make up the story. But having been set in the modern world with a revamped version of Sherlock and Watson, the stories have their own twist. This is unlike some other shows that follow the book line by line.

Why does Sherlock only have 3 episodes?
This is because they use the principles of quality over quantity (i.e. they’d rather 3 excellent episodes than 22 just good ones) and showrunner importance (i.e. the creators write most of the episodes). British TV shows generally make only 6–10 episodes per season as a rule.
Is Sherlock BBC over?
There is no official release date for a new series of Sherlock but we can expect the show to arrive in either 2022 or 2023. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman take the lead roles in the series, which ended back in 2017.
