Promotion – How to become an NCO
- minimum Leading Cadet.
- minimum of 14 years of age.
- attended at least one weekend camp.
- attended either a Squadron or Wing JNCO course.
- represented the squadron at Wing Athletics in any event.

- pass Individual Drill Test.

Do you have to be fit to join Air Cadets?
Do I need to be really fit? We like our volunteers to be reasonably fit so they can join in the physical activities, but other qualities are equally important. We need people who can deal with paperwork and homesick cadets at camp just as much as someone who can hike across the hills with them.
Are Air Cadets strict?
Is it very strict? The Air Cadet Organisation is a uniformed youth organisation that has an emphasis on standards of dress and behaviour. However, the focus is always on enjoying yourself while improving your skills with other young people.
