Style Trend: Bright Blazers
You know it’s all about bright colors this spring! And now blazers are definitely getting in on the action. I know we always complain that we can’t find blazers in our sizes, but I think I might have you covered. I found a few below that are not only in amazingly bold colors, but they come in a range of plus sizes and prices. And they aren’t that traditional blazer style either. Check out the cropped style from Jessica London or this beautiful wrapped style from Ashley Stewart. Throw it over a spring dress or with a pair of your … Continue reading

Style Trend: Pleats
What do we know about pleats? We know it’s defined as a “type of fold formed by doubling fabric back upon itself and securing it in place.” But, did you know there are 11 types of pleats? I didn’t either! All I do know, is that when I went shopping the other day, I saw a lot of pleated pieces. Oh, and I’m not a big fan of ironing pleats. Too tedious! But, I do love the way they look. I’m kind of eyeing the burgundy Evans pleated maxi skirt (#11). So, what do you think? Are pleats the way … Continue reading

With only a few weeks of summer left, I’m already craving sweaters. Fall is calling me and so are these knits with their bold stripes. They can be paired with a wide leg or skinny jean and a great pair of boots or flats. Ohhhhh a chunky necklace too! Sorry, fashion makes me excited. LOL. Awwww….hurry up and get cold already! Style Trend: 1950′s Style with Dorothy Perkins
Ever since the television hit Mad Men came on the air, I’ve been eyeing all 1950′s fashion. Even Banana Republic has introduced a Mad Men inspired line. For a second, I’ll imagine I’m Christina Hendricks as Joan Harris. I really want a dress now! And I can’t buy from Banana Republic, because they don’t carry my size. Then I remembered Dorothy Perkins carried a lot of 50′s style dresses and they have sizes up to a US 18. Don’t you just love how the silhouette defines the waist and that flared skirt? Great for showing off those curves! They remind … Continue reading
Style Trend: The Kimono
The Kimono, a traditional Japanese garment, has always inspired fashion trends. Kimono actually means “a thing put on.” And derives from ki “wear” and mono “thing.” Just a little fashion lesson for ya. It’s normally a long length robe, with wide sleeves and wide sash at the waist. And it was a definite inspiration for these pieces I found below at Style369.com, Evans.co.uk, and DorothyPerkins.com. They feature the the wide sleeves and some even have a sash as the waist. It’s definitely not your traditional Kimono, it’s just a trend inspired by it. I’m dying over the Dorothy Perkin’s Orange kimono dress! … Continue reading
